I live my life as holistically as possible and it is essential that I integrate my interests in art, my passion for nature, and the values that I have established through experience and faith. Nature presents information in profound and beautiful ways. I find it valuable to slow down and observe nature and humanity and it leads me to esoteric interpretations as I stray from literal representation in my abstracted, macro microcosms. Subjects for my abstracted images are based in the natural world, and their portrayal often refers to the integrity of form within an environment and explores concepts of transcendence and the sublime of nature, such as the Romantics or Georgia O”Keefe. The focus of other pieces integrated within are critical responses to current environmental issues such as climate change, urban sprawl or the oil crisis. The use of live organic material in the living wall and the sculptures is an attempt to bridge the divide between the paintings and the real natural world and give the viewer an experience with the reality of nature's strength of survival.
